“Humboldt County” Review

Was the exact movie I needed to watch at this time in my life. So much more painful than I expected and incredibly emotionally resonant. Fantastic performances from the entire cast. The cinematography was absolutely beautiful, light dancing on the lush environment, sparkling and dappled through trees, illuminating faces and eyes in such a magnificent way. The film shifts from quietly entrancing to a steady roar like a rushing river or crashing ocean. It leaves you at the shore, the tide having gone out, and you are left drenched and drained in sandy and soiled clothes with the water having cleansed you, washing away pretenses and forcing you to confront what the fuck you want for yourself in life and who you are. Melancholic, philosophical, tender, devastating.
